Lethbridge Farmers’ Market starts up Saturday

This Saturday marks the return of the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market for the 2023 season.

The market has been an annual tradition since 1962, and will run every Saturday with the last day set for October 14th. This year, both admission and parking will be free of charge.

The Farmers Market will include fresh produce, baked goods, homemade crafts and other items and takes place in the Lethbridge & District Exhibition’s North Pavilion.

“We are excited for the new Lethbridge Farmers’ Market season and know our community has been anxiously awaiting its return,” says Lethbridge & District Exhibition CEO, Mike Warkentin.

“The Farmers’ Market is not only a great way for shoppers to directly support local vendors, but it’s a place where our community comes together for a unique Lethbridge experience. We know this will be another great year.”

The market is Lethbridge’s only Alberta Approved Farmers’ Market, meaning that at least 80 per cent of the good and items sold are either made, baked or grown right here in Alberta.

“It’s very unique element for us because it takes us right back to our roots of an agricultural society and allows us to connect one on one at a consumer level and support a lot of local agricultural entrepreneurs,” says Warkentin.

“We have local producers, local craft artisans, 80 percent of the market is people who either grow it or make it here in Southern Alberta, it is an incredibly important thing for us to be able showcase their products and get those out to market here in the community.”

Any resident looking to become a vendor are able to join either for the entire season or casually choosing weeks that work best, application available here.
