School and playground zones will become the same thing in Lethbridge this fall. City council approved the speed harmonization project in May and adopted the needed amendment to the traffic bylaw at its July 11 meeting.
All signs are set to be changed by the end of August to prepare for the change in September. All school zones will be changed to playground zones, with 30 km/h speed limits between 7:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. every day.
The implementation comes at a cost of $65,000 to the city.
