Changes coming to some Lethbridge transit routes and services

Changes are coming to some Lethbridge bus routes, including providing access to transit in two areas where there previously was no service.

Joel McDonald, innovation and planning manager for the city, says on-demand transit service is now available in Southridge and Paradise Canyon.

“We have also made some additional changes to the on-demand service on the west side to help decrease trip times, increase availability by focusing on brining customers to the main hubs located at West Highland Station and Sunridge Station,” he says.

Route 51 will see a significant change and will now travel along Jerry Potts Boulevard, Metis Trail and Garry Drive.  One stop will be closed with this change, stop #13357, on Red Crow Boulevard and Salish Place. Eight new stops will be in service starting Aug. 23.  Two stops along Jerry Potts Boulevard, two along Metis Trail and four along Garry Drive.

“We do have an innovation and planning committee who receive feedback from customers through 311 as well as a lot of our riders so our goal is to constantly grow transit as the city grows by finding new ways to better serve our customers, better serve the communities and provide reliable, dependable service,” McDonald says. “Using our data, we have been able to identify certain routes that are currently not running on time as well as they should be so now we can adjust those routes.”

A full list of schedule and service changes can be found on the city’s website.
