Coaldale sees second highest population growth among southern Alberta communities: report

Coaldale is growing faster than its neighbours, according to a new report. The town’s 2022 Comparative Analysis shows the community saw the second highest population growth among neighbouring municipalities (Lethbridge, Lethbridge County and Taber).

Director of growth and investment for the town Cameron Mills says the above average population growth is significant and is a reflection of what the town has to offer.

“It also means that Coaldale is continuing to expand its tax base, which will help position the community to maintain service levels even the face of high inflation, a challenge that in recent years, every municipality has had to contend with,” he says.

From 2017-2021, population growth in Coaldale averaged 4.3 per cent and the community grew from 8,495 to 8,917 residents.
