Provincial Environment Minister wrapping up three day visit to southwest Alberta

Alberta’s Minister of Environment and Parks wrapping up a three day visit to southwest Alberta.

Jason Nixon spent time in the Castle and Porcupine Hills area meeting with local First Nations and various stakeholder groups to gather information on what is one of the most popular regions of the province.

Nixon says he heard a lot over his short visit but one thing was loud and clear, that this special spot needs to be preserved and protected.

He says he’s taking back to Edmonton “lots of different input ” on ways his department can help in future years to continue to manage those areas in productive ways while also increasing partnerships with local communities and stakeholders.

Lethbridge East MLA Nathan Neudorf and Livingstone-Macleod MLA Roger Reid also took part in the three-day visit with the Environment Minister.
