New security measures, Cannabis Policy, announced by Exhibition Park ahead of Whoop Up Days

Festival goers will notice some new security measures in place when Whoop Up Days gets underway next week.

There will now be bag check stations, metal detectors, and security screening at the new entry gate located northeast of the West Pavilion.

Exhibition Park Chief Operating Officer, Mike Warkentin, says it’s a matter of aligning Whoop Up Days with industry standards.

Whoop Up Days attendees are encouraged to review Terms of Entry before they arrive and only pack what is needed.

Exhibition Park also released its Cannabis Policy for Whoop Up Days.

Consumption will NOT be permitted on the midway or in the pavilions or anywhere else besides two designated areas in the Stage Ex musical festival site which opens at 6:30pm.

Warkentin says that policy also aligns with what other fairs and festivals are doing.

He adds many festivals that chose to prohibit cannabis use altogether, found it was difficult to enforce.
