Location announced for Coalhurst community garden

The Town of Coalhurst has announced the new community garden will be located in Imperial Meadows Park.

According to the town, those walking through the park could possibly notice a garden space plotted out and reportedly “construction will soon be underway.” When the garden is being built the town is asking people to be aware and keep a safe distance from the area.

However, before any construction can get underway parts of the Community Garden Program still need to be finalized. In February mylethbridgenow.com reported the municipality received up to $51,610 in funding for the project through Agri-Food Canada’s “Local Food Infrastructure Fund”.

At the time Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay said the funding is part of the work being done through the Canadian government’s Affordable Housing and Groceries Act, which is reported to focus on stabilizing food prices and helping support families.
