One of the largest solar energy projects on the planet has received provincial approval and the company hopes to start construction in southern Alberta next year.
President and CEO of Greengate Power, Dan Balaban, says it will be, by far, the largest solar energy project in Canada.
The project in Vulcan County will include 1.5 million solar panels that will provide enough energy to power 100,000 homes.
With a total investment of $500 million, Travers Solar, is expected to operate for more than 35 years providing clean, renewable energy to Alberta.
The massive solar farm will be operational starting in 2021.
