Lethbridge’s Dawn Puckett named ‘Alberta Queen’ for weight loss

Lethbridge’s Dawn Puckett has been named the 2023 TOPS Alberta Queen, as she lost 80.5 pounds through the non-profit Take Off Pounds Sensibly weight loss, education and support organization.

Puckett attributes her weight loss success to the support she received from her fellow members, along with portion control and regular exercise.

“I’ve been with TOPS for 13 years and try as I might, there was no consistency – up and down like a yo-yo. Little by little, year by year, I started making better food choices and trying to move more,” adds Puckett.

Fast forward to 2023, when Puckett’s weight journey ramped up. “I can’t explain it, but a switch turned on. I started walking to the end of my block, then around the block and gradually increased my walks to a half hour daily. Some days they have gone up to an hour.”

“The support and encouragement I get from my family and my chapter – whether I had a loss or a gain, has helped me to keep going and never stop,” says Puckett.

In 2023, Alberta members lost a total 6,641 pounds.
