Investigation underway after truck found on fire in downtown Lethbridge

Authorities are investigating after a truck was found on fire in downtown Lethbridge Monday morning.

At around 7 a.m. on July 29, 2024, the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) and members of Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to the blaze.

The LPS says the truck was found in the lot where the Lethbridge Hotel once stood at the corner of 5 Street South and 2 Avenue South.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and say no injuries were reported. The fire was contained to the vehicle, which helped prevent further damage to the surrounding area.

The 2000 Ford F-350 was reportedly stolen, according to police. The LPS says the interior was burned and the fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.

Police say the owner has been apprised and the incident remains under investigation.
