Phase one MPE Link Pathway opens next week

Next week the first phase of the highly anticipated MPE Link Pathway that will connect Lethbridge to Coaldale will be opening.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Thursday, August 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first 4.7 kilometres of the path goes from Coaldale to Highway 512, otherwise known as Jailroad. At the beginning of the month Chair of the MPE LINK Pathway Committee, Henry Doeve, told mylethbridgenow.com that having paving complete on the first phase and are moving forward to design the next phase.

“We’re engineering and designing the crossing – the 512 crossing where we cross Highway 512. So, we continue the design process and then when the funds roll in, we’re ready to roll,” he said.

He added that the pathway will provide a tourism boost for southern Alberta.
