Alberta Health Services (AHS) is advising patients that the Fort Macleod Health Centre Emergency Department (ED) will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, July 31.
The closure will be in place starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday. The ED is set to re-open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 1 to provide 24-hour service.
AHS says it is due to a lack of physician coverage.
Nursing staff will stay on-site during the temporary closure to provide care for long-term care residents. Patients are asked to call 911 for medical emergencies.
Calls will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Individuals seeking care can access emergency services at the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre, Claresholm Community Health Centre or at Chinook Regional Hospital.
Residents are also being reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for non-emergency health-related questions. Individuals needing non-emergency medical care are encouraged to contact their family physician.
