A Multicultural Festival is being held in Taber Sept. 14 at Confederation Park.
Town of Taber Economic Development Manager Amy Allred says Taber is excited to partner with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) for the event.
“Taber and the surrounding region is full of so much culture and we have a lot of newcomers. It’s great to have a day to showcase, celebrate and learn from newcomers. Taber likes to get involved and check out what all the different cultures are,” adds Allred.
The day will feature food trucks, performers, a multicultural market and resource fair. One of the main performers of the day will be David Toews.
FCSS Outreach Services Supervisor Kaitlynn Weaver says there’s been an increase in newcomers visiting the office to ask for support. “Which is a good way for us to showcase what FCSS has available.”
“The Resource Fair will be nice because it will be able to showcase what the Town of Taber has to offer, what we offer and what other agencies can offer and increase awareness and make those connections,” adds Weaver.
Taber has a long-standing history of immigration and newcomers, notes Allred. “It’s a very welcoming community and they like to participate in other cultures. They like people to come and share where they come from and what they do.”
“We’re excited to see cultures come together and see the newcomers come together and meet each other and celebrate and showcase everything that’s great about the region,” adds Allred.
