Regional fire crews respond to rural crop fire

Earlier this week crews from five regional fire companies responded to a crop fire in the Coalhurst area.

According to officials from the Coalhurst Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters from the local department responded to the fire Monday night. Because of the wind, “a call was made for an extra wildland unit and tender.”

According to reports more resources from the Nobleford & District Emergency Services, Picture Butte Emergency Services, Coaldale and District Emergency Services and Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services were called to help battle the blaze.

Firefighters contained to the original field and firefighters were able to keep it from spreading to any neighboring properties.
