Stirling Wind Project Community Benefit Scholarship funding awarded

$4,000 in scholarship funding was handed out earlier this month by the County of Lethbridge Council.

The Community Benefit Scholarship is a joint effort between the county and Potentia Renewables Inc. through the Stirling Wind Project Community Benefit Scholarship Fund. According to county officials, the idea of the scholarship was brought forward by the company as a way to give back to the community where their wind turbines are located, with at least one university or college scholarship awarded each year to a student who is enrolled in a school in the county and planning on continuing their studies in a STEM program.

Two scholarships were handed out this year, both worth $2,000 to Andy Yang and Ily Vucurevich. Both were picked by Potentia from the applications summited earlier in the summer and approved by council.
