Coalhurst celebrates 30th anniversary of reincorporation in 2025

Next year the Town of Coalhurst will be celebrating 30 years since being reincorporated as a town.

During last week’s town council meeting, council endorsed a 30-year celebration plan from a presentation from administration about themes and possible events. Council sent a conversation about potential rebranding, along with a public space design and beautification to a future Committee of the Whole for a more in-depth discussion.

Along with the endorsed plan for next year’s festivities, town council also approved administration work on a secondary 10-year plan to prepare for the 100th anniversary of the 1935 Coalhurst mine disaster.

Details about the 30th-anniversary celebration festivities will be shared with the community as they come together as residents and local businesses can be involved in the planning, support, and hosting of different activities next year.

The community of Coalhurst has been around for 112 years, having first been incorporated as a municipality in 1913.
