41-year-old facing sexual assault charges

A 41-year-old man is facing several charges connected to an alleged sexual assault last weekend.

According to Lethbridge Police Service officials, on Sunday police received information that a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man at a party on the West Side. When police investigated they determined the incident occurred inside a home in the 100 block of McGill Boulevard and was recorded by several people.

Officers are also said to have gone door to door in the neighbourhood and learned of another incident where a neighbour had gone to the house to talk about concerns that were had and were allegedly threatened by the man.

According to officials, between August 6th and September 22nd, police responded to several complaints about a home in the 100 block of McGill Boulevard including noisy parties, loud music and fireworks being set off at all hours of the night. Officers responded to the home nine times, and are said to have issued warnings, tickets and criminal charges.

Justin Chad Leavitt has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, causing a disturbance and numerous counts of mischief. He has been released from costudy and is scheduled to appear in court on October 10th.
