This Thursday, the University of Lethbridge, with support from Lethbridge Polytechnic and the City of Lethbridge, will host the fifth annual STEM Fusion conference from 1-8 p.m. in the Science Commons Atrium.
The annual conference connects science, technology, engineering and mathematics professionals with commercialization, innovation and entrepreneurship.
“We’re excited to host this event, this time with the theme of work integrated learning,” says Luc Roberts, entrepreneurial strategist with the ULethbridge Teaching Centre and Agility. “STEM Fusion is a great way for academic and industry leaders to network, form new connections and collaborations and find out what local businesses are doing to introduce work integrated learning into their operations.”
The conference will feature:
- How local industries are at the forefront of the latest innovations.
- Innovative research from students and faculty at ULethbridge and Lethbridge Polytechnic.
- What supports are available to new researchers and entrepreneurs to support their technology innovations.
- Local businesses that have successfully integrated work integrated learning into their operations showcase their products and services.
- Connect with students, researchers, industry leaders and tech enthusiasts.
- Researchers and students present their ongoing research and projects.
The City of Lethbridge has provided 30 bus passes for Lethbridge Polytechnic students to travel to ULethbridge for the event.
“The City of Lethbridge has been working with students, faculty and staff at the U of L and Lethbridge Polytechnic to create engaging work integrated learning and experiential learning opportunities through our City Scholars Program,” says Perry Stein, partner services manager with the City. “As one of the city’s largest employers, we see a great deal of value in engaging students in our work, helping them to build stronger connections to community and introducing them to the impact of public service.”
