Two people injured in west Lethbridge house fire

Crews are investigating the cause of a west Lethbridge house fire that sent two people to hospital late last week.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) says members from four stations responded to the incident on Cabot Landing West at about 4:33 p.m. on Friday, October 4 after neighbours heard smoke alarms and called 911.

Officials say the flames were discovered in the kitchen.

Two residents were hurt, with both taken to hospital – one with minor injuries and the other in critical but stable condition. Damage is estimated at $10,000.

LFES is reminding residents of the importance of smoke alarms, especially during Fire Prevention Week, which is from October 6 to 12.

Officials are encouraging residents to check their smoke alarms, practice their fire escape plans and avoid distractions while cooking.
