Kodiaks soccer teams finish regular season play this weekend

This weekend, the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks soccer teams will finish the regular season.

In women’s soccer, the Kodiaks take on the University of Alberta – Augustana Saturday at 1 p.m. and Medicine Hat College Sunday at noon.

The women’s soccer team is aiming to secure the third seed in the South Division in preparation for the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference playoffs next weekend. To ensure they maintain their lead over the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, the Kodiaks must either win both of their remaining games or achieve one win and one tie.

The team plays host to the Augustana Vikings, as their last home match of the season. They will be honouring the team’s graduating senior student-athletes following the match. The Kodiaks will then travel to Medicine Hat for Sunday’s final regular season game.

In men’s soccer, the Kodiaks are at Medicine Hat College Sunday at 2 p.m.

The men’s soccer team clinched a playoff spot following their victory over the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings last weekend. However, the final seeding will not be determined until the end of this week’s play.

The team is looking for revenge against Medicine Hat College after their last match-up ended in a 4-2 loss. Since then, the Kodiaks have gone unbeaten, gaining momentum as they close out the regular season.
