Lethbridge home sales see a downtick in September

The number of homes sold in Lethbridge and the number of houses on the market in September were down compared to last year.

According to the latest statistics from the Alberta Real Estate Association, over the 30-day-period 169 properties were sold, a 7.7 per cent downtick from the same month last year. The number of properties on the market also was down 12.1 per cent according to the AREA report, with 355 active listings.

In September, 197 new listings were put on the market, a 10.1 per cent uptick compared to 2023. The total residential price average also increased to $381,363, a four per cent bump.

In the first nine months of 2024, apartment sales have seen the largest jump with 202 sold, a 24 per cent boost for the same period last year. Detached homes however still are seeing the most sales with 1,132 sold in over the 273 days. Total residential sales across all categories have seen a five per cent boost in the same period and the average price has seen a 12 per cent jump to $382,748.
