Off-duty LPS officer facing charges connected to alleged domestic incident

A Lethbridge Police officer is facing several charges connected to an alleged incident which happened when he was off duty.

According to Lethbridge Police Service officials, the constable was arrested Tuesday by RCMP and has been suspended with pay. The officer, who is a 20-year-veteran of the force, is facing charges of criminal harassment, mischief and being unlawfully in a dwelling house.

Police say the incident has a domestic nature to it and because of this the name of the officer is not being released to protect the identity and privacy of the victim.

A statement from the Lethbridge Police Service reads, “The charged officer and his family have been offered appropriate support from the Service during the court process.”

Officials say they are sharing this information for public transparency and there will be no more information released.
