Pronghorn Athletics at the University of Lethbridge is saying goodbye to its men’s soccer team head coach.
Vikram Virk is stepping down from the role to take on a position in the professional ranks. Under his leadership, the team made back-to-back runs to the Canada West quarterfinals.
Spencer Pommells, the athletic director for Pronghorn Athletics says it is bittersweet to see Virk move on.
“From the moment he arrived in Lethbridge, Vik exemplified what it means to be a Pronghorn. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished during his time with us. While we are excited for him as he takes this next step in his career, we will certainly miss his leadership and the positive energy he brought to the program,” he remarks.
“We are also grateful for the foundation he has built for our men’s soccer program.”
Virk says he is grateful to have been part of such a tight-knit community.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to lead this program and for the support I received throughout the season. The connections I made with fellow coaches enriched my experience, allowing me to learn from their diverse expertise,” he states.
“I am incredibly thankful to the men’s soccer alumni for the support they have shown me and the team from day one. It’s truly special to see the connection between alumni and the current players grow. Coming to Lethbridge means becoming part of something bigger than just a team, and I take great pride in saying I am a Pronghorn.”
“Most importantly, I’m grateful for the athletes; their commitment extended not only to bettering themselves but also to uplifting the team and contributing to the Pronghorn community. The dedication they showed is something truly special, and I look forward to following the team’s growth and each individual’s path,” Virk adds.
The search for a new coach for the Pronghorns men’s soccer team is underway.
