Coalhurst using unexpected funding to purchase updated firefighting equipment

The saying “no good deed goes unnoticed” is well at work after the Town of Coalhurst received funding for the six firefighters and Wildland Fire Truck assisting the Jasper Wildfire fight this summer.

According to Town of Coalhurst officials, the municipality received $38,000 in unanticipated revenue for the use of those resources. According to a release from the Town of Coalhurst, the money is being put towards replacing the Fire Department’s washer and dryer. Additionally, the funds will go towards purchasing personal protective equipment and upgraded uniforms. Included in this purchase is fire fighting coveralls, boots, shirts and pants and dress uniforms.

The upgraded uniforms will reportedly make the job easier and more comfortable for Coalhurst Volunteer Fire Fighters when they are called to longer emergencies such as major grass fires.

According to city officials, any over from the unanticipated revenue will go into the Fire Department Reserve to be used for future projects.
