Experience eras past with a Dickens-esque “Nostalgic Noel: A Victorian Affair” at Fort Whoop-Up Dec. 13-15.
“We do a Christmas at the Fort every year, but we tried to really switch up what you can experience, but the quality remains the same. This year is going to have a bit of a vintage flair,” notes Community Program Coordinator Kristin Krein.
This festive flair includes apple pie making, maple syrup on snow, pine and cedar tree bough wreath crafting and dried pressed flower Christmas card making.
There’s also all-day hot chocolate and cider by the fire and blacksmith forging demonstrations.
“He’ll be making cute little metal candy canes for the kids and participants,” adds Krein.
Blanche Bruisedhead, the Fort’s knowledge keeper, will be in the art gallery talking about winter counts, as well.
“You’ll be able to make your own winter count after you’ve learned about it,” says Krein.
According to Krein, event days are drop-in, as activities are done at your own pace.
“Nostalgic Noel” runs from 12-5 p.m. on all three days. There is a nominal admission fee and an additional fee to experience the wonder of a horse-drawn carriage ride through a picturesque winter landscape on Friday and Sunday.
