Local romance author Mandy Michelle releases ‘How Finch Stole Christmas’

Lethbridge contemporary romance author Mandy Michelle will be at Analog Books Friday from 4-7 p.m. for a meet and greet and book signing of her latest novella, “How Finch Stole Christmas.”

The book was officially released Nov. 1, notes Michelle. “This is my first independently published project. It’s about 80 pages. It’s a romance novella.”

“It’s like a Hallmark movie in your hands. It’s that same kind of vibe. It’s a sweet holiday romance,” adds Michelle.

According to the author, the small-town romance is about a mayor who won’t quit until he wins and the woman who shows him the real magic of Christmas.

“My inspiration for this book was to write a book my dad could read,” she jokes. “My other romance novels are a little bit steamier, but this one is completely PG. He was my first reader of the book and he really enjoyed it. He thought it was funny. It’s actually popular with men.”

The book is available at Analog Books, the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge and online through Amazon and Kindle Unlimited, as an eBook.

“I love working with Analog Books. Penny and Scott are amazing with local events and they’re a great support to the local writing community,” says Michelle.

The novella marks Michelle’s very first holiday romance. “I’ve written two others that have been published with a small publisher in New York. One of those was set on New Year’s Eve. This is my first complete Christmas novel.”

Michelle was born and raised in Lethbridge and attended the University of Lethbridge. She is a long-time member of the River Bottom Writers and has been a board member of Lethbridge’s Wordbridge writing conference for the past three years. “I’m involved a lot in the writing community in Lethbridge.”

With Christmas only a few weeks away, Michelle says the book is a cute, little stocking stuffer. “It’s a short read and it’s funny, sweet and something people have told me they really enjoyed. I read it in my writing group and they all laughed and enjoyed it. It’s just a little touch of Christmas from a local author.”

“I’d love for people to come out to Analog Books and talk to me about it and I’m making fresh gingerbread cookies,” says Michelle.
