Members of the sport community in the Lethbridge area are set to be celebrated, as nominations are open for the 2025 class of the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame.
The nonprofit says sports have played an important role in “building the fabric of southern Alberta” and there are plenty of success stories that deserve recognition.
Nominations can be made in the categories listed below:
- Athlete: Recognizing those who have distinguished themselves in competition in Lethbridge or elsewhere, or by example have brought great credit to the sport and high respect for the individual.
- Team: Recognizing Lethbridge-based teams that have won a national, international or world championship, or that have achieved the highest possible award at their level of competition.
- Builder: This formally recognizes the initiative, leadership and dedication of those individuals who participate in the development of sport.
- Special award: Recognizing individuals and/or organizations that have made a valuable contribution to sports or to the community of Lethbridge through sports. The special award rewards those who have made these significant contributions but do not qualify under the other categories.
Nominations can be submitted at the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame website until January 31. The induction ceremony is set for April 25.
The Hall of Fame has inducted over 320 members since its inception in 1985.
You can learn more about past inductees online and visit the permanent site of the Hall of Fame at the Cavendish Farms Centre in west Lethbridge.
