“We are thrilled to be able to add Caden to our group,” says Hurricanes general manager Peter Anholt. “He is an elite defenceman who is a signed guy and will bolster our defence. He’s an outstanding skater who can quarterback a power play while also being a strong two-way guy. Having him with Hockey Canada, most recently at the World Juniors, this is a guy we had targeted and am very excited to be able to add him.”

The rearguard was selected by the Seattle Kraken in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, signing a three-year entry-level deal with the team.

Over the course of his career, Price has scored 26 goals and delivered 122 assists, along with 134 penalty minutes across 201 regular season WHL games with Kelowna. In 19 playoff games, he has scored two goals and 11 assists, with 10 penalty minutes.

Price is the sixth player on the Hurricanes roster to be a drafted NHL prospect, with the others including Noah Chadwick (TOR), Miguel Marques (NSH), Vojtech Port (ANA), Brayden Yager (PIT/WPG) and Jordan Gustafson (VGK).
