PowerSchool cybersecurity incident impacting Holy Spirit Catholic School Division

Holy Spirit Catholic School Division officials are working on determining the scope of a cyber incident involving the program used to store family and staff information.

According to a statement from Superintendent of Schools, Chantel Axani the event involving the PowerSchool program has impacted the data of users in not only Canada but also the U.S. However she says no financial information was stored in the program so it was not accessed.

Axani’s statement reads, “PowerSchool has assured us that the incident is contained and that they have strengthened their security measures to prevent future breaches.”

The operations of the program are said to be unimpacted and service is continuing as usual. The school division says PowerSchool has told them there is no further risk regarding the incident. Updates on the situation will be provided when they are available.
