Provincial law society issues citations against former prosecutor for inappropriate relationship

A former Lethbridge prosecutor will have to appear before the Law Society of Alberta on allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with the complainant in a criminal case.

The provincial law society issued two citations against Darwyn Ross on January 24th, the first alleges he had an inappropriate relationship with a complainant while he was the Crown Prosecutor of a criminal matter and the sanction says “that such conduct is deserving of sanction.”

The second citation alleges Ross “failed to act honourably and with integrity and acted in a manner that would bring the administration of justice into disrepute and that such conduct is deserving of sanction.”

No date has been set as of yet for the hearing.

According to the Law Society of Alberta Ross’s practicing status is marked as “suspended.” He reportedly left the prosecutor’s office in 2022 and started practicing in Alberta in 2002.
