The Helen Schuler Nature Centre is inviting families for some fun this long weekend.
However, they say the entertainment does not end on Family Day weekend, with other events planned this month and throughout the year.
If you do want to stop by the site this weekend, the centre hosts a handful of activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, February 17, both indoors and outdoors.
Families are also encouraged to check out a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ set up along the trails at the Nature Reserve.
As part of this, you will be able to see signs showcasing local wildlife, which feature a question. The answer to these questions will determine what trail you take along the way.
“Family Day is a wonderful opportunity to get outside and enjoy time together in the river valley,” says the centre’s Jessica Deacon-Rogers.
“For families looking for a smaller event, participating in the Outdoor Adventure Activities in the Nature Reserve is a fun way to spend time together.”
Later this month, the Helen Schuler Nature Centre holds a ‘Nature Play Pop Up’ with Lethbridge Plays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, February 21.
This event will allow participants to learn how loose parts, like building blocks, boost one’s imagination and help inspire creativity.
The centre says all activities are drop-in and free.
CURRENT EXHIBITS
The centre currently has two exhibits running.
Water Ways is a hands-on feature that is designed to teach guests about Lethbridge’s watershed, rivers, reservoirs and how personal choices by consumers impact local water sources, as well as those around the world. The Power of Play is another interactive exhibit that aims to inspire visitors to add more play to their days.
The Helen Schuler Nature Centre is open all year. For more details about the different family-friendly activities offered at the facility, visit its official website.
