Wind warning in effect for Lethbridge area

UPDATE: The wind warning is no longer in effect for Lethbridge and the surrounding area.

You might want to hold onto your hat!

A wind warning is in effect for Lethbridge and surrounding areas in southern Alberta.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says gusts up to 110 km/h are expected today, with the strongest gusts anticipated for this afternoon.

Officials say gusts should calm down in the evening. With the strong wind comes potential damage to buildings, and loose objects could be tossed by the wind.

Additionally, the strong gusts could make driving, especially in larger vehicles, difficult so motorists are advised to take caution behind the wheel.

A full list of the impacted areas is available at the Environment Canada website.
