Claresholm man charged in connection to seizure of drugs, guns, copper wire

A 28-year-old Claresholm man is facing a slew of charges after police allegedly seized weapons, drugs and copper wire from a vehicle last month.

On February 18th, Nanton RCMP received a report about a suspicious vehicle leaving the town, heading eastbound on Highway 533. Following a vehicle stop and further investigation, police say the vehicle was not registered or insured, and the man was not supposed to be operating it.

Police say when officers approached the vehicle there was a gun in plain view and during the subsequent search of the vehicle police seized a .22 calibre rifle with around 600 rounds of ammunition, what police call break in tools which include a balaclava and two-way radios, along with significant amount of stripped copper wire and meth.

Police say some of the items seized during the search are allegedly connected to a break-and-enter in the Claresholm area.

Jaden Ross Vincent is facing charges, including the unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Police say he has since been released from custody.
