A Transportation Safety Board (TSB) investigation in underway, following a train derailment west of Lethbridge Friday morning (Oct. 11)
According to the MD of Taber Regional Fire Service, about 25 bulk container cars jumped the tracks along Highway 3 at Range Road 18-1 near Barnwell. That road is currently closed north of Highway 3 as crews clean up the scene.
No injuries were reported and there’s no environmental hazard or risk to the general public.
The TSB says it will gather information and assess how the derailment occurred.
