Saturday looks ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Skating’ with Picture Butte carnival

North County Skating Club in Picture Butte is presenting its annual skating carnival Cloudy with a Chance of Skating this Saturday at the North County Recreation Complex.

Vice-President Lindsey Jakober says it’s a year-end performance for all of the club’s skaters. “We have around 50 skaters performing. They’re doing 15 different performances.”

Skaters, Jakober notes, have made some great accomplishments over the season.

“They’ve worked really hard to move forward and put these performances on. A lot of great development. Most of our skaters have moved up one to three levels this year,” adds Jakober.

There will also be guest skater Elizabeth Davis from the Southern Alberta Skating Academy. “She’s a STAR 8 skater,” says Jakober.

The North County Skating Club celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, Jakober says. “We’re always looking for new members and people to join the club, either skating or volunteers. It’s a good way to give back to the community and be involved.”

The event kicks off at 1 p.m. and tickets are available at the door.
