Construction is underway on the largest single private investment in Lethbridge’s downtown in almost 20 years.
Six08 Health, formerly East Meets West, is embarking on an estimated $4.8-million redevelopment project at 608-5th avenue south.
The new two-story facility will bring together a multitude of health care professionals including massage, acupuncture, chiropractor, dental, pharmacy, and supervised child care.
Clinic Director Sean Hantke says the City’s Targeted Redevelopment Incentive Program was a big part of the decision to move downtown saying “I always knew the clinic belonged in the heart of the city.”
The TRIP policy will, for a period of time, cancel the municipal tax increase Six08 Health would have incurred after the renovations are complete.
Six08 Health has qualified for a seven year cancellation which equates to $616,000.
Lethbridge’s Urban Revitalization Manager, Andrew Malcolm, says he’s optimistic this is the first of many large redevelopment projects coming to the downtown area.
