Kodiaks add local talent Reese Lund to women’s volleyball roster

The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks women’s volleyball team has announced the commitment of Reese Lund, a standout middle blocker from Vauxhall High School and the Taber Wham U18 club team.

Hailing from Barnwell, Lund recently capped off her high school playing career with a provincial title and will bring skill and a strong volleyball pedigree to the Kodiaks this fall.

Head Coach Anna Schwark says she has followed Lund’s development closely over the past few years. “We’ve seen Reese play in our Kodiaks high school tournament each September. We really noticed big improvements this past year.”

Known for her reach and athleticism, Lund is expected to make an immediate impact in the middle blocker position.

“Whether she’s on the ball or not, she moves with confidence and intention,” Schwark adds. “We’re excited to keep a talent like Reese close to home. If she sticks with it, she’ll become a leader on our team and in the conference.”

Lund’s decision to join the Kodiaks was influenced by her strong ties to the program. Her brother, Kade Lund, played for the Kodiaks men’s basketball team in the 2022-23 season and plans to return this fall.

“There’s such a great community here,” says Lund. “My brother and uncle both played here, and I’ve always loved the Kodiaks.”

Lund plans to enrol in the polytechnic’s General Arts and Science – Health Sciences program.
