Local groups receive boost for upgrades thanks to Stirling Wind Project fund

A handful of local groups are set to benefit from funding thanks to the Stirling Wind Project Community Benefit Fund.

Lethbridge County says each recipient will receive $1,217.36 to help with facility upgrades and improvement projects. Recipients include:

  • The Fresh Start Recovery Centre in Lethbridge: funding will help the Run for Recovery event raising awareness on addiction and recovery;
  • Kinette Club of Coaldale: funding will go toward the Kinsmen Park revitalization, including a basketball court and playground upgrades;

“Community groups strengthen the fabric of Lethbridge County and deliver tangible benefits to our residents,” says Reeve Tory Campbell.

“Council is pleased to take part in a program that directs resources to causes within County borders and supports their positive impact across these communities.”

The Stirling Wind Project Community Benefit Fund was started by Potentia Renewables Inc., owner of the Stirling Wind Project, which has 14 turbines in the county.

“At Potentia, we are proud to invest in the communities where we operate because our communities are at the heart of everything we do,” says Michèle Smith, vice president of business management at Potentia Renewables.

“We are honoured to contribute to projects that make places like Lethbridge County thrive. Congratulations to this year’s recipients- we look forward to seeing the positive impact you will continue to make.”

An additional opportunity is available for students through the Stirling Wind Project. Applications to the Community Benefit Scholarship are open until July 31. The bursary is for students entering their first year of post-secondary schooling in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. Further details are available at the Potentia Renewables website.
