Nikka Yuko reopens May 8 with plenty of weekend activities

Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden reopens May 8 with a full-slate of activities scheduled this summer.

Marketing and Sales Manager Eric Granson says this season is focused on more inclusive programming with a ticket. “We want to build a value in that.”

One inclusive activity scheduled is a tea demonstration to be held every single day. “Typically, we only did it before on Thursdays. We’re also resorting to more of the classic of what people thought the garden was used for. That peace, tranquility and relaxation,” Granson notes.

Mondays, Granson adds, will be strictly for that. “We will have quieter music and it’s going to be all about relaxing. Getting your time in the garden to reflect and the peace and serenity vibe.”

Granson says the garden will also be amping up all of its festivals this summer too. “To make sure the price is worth it, the value is there, and we can make sure we have something for every age and demographic and what they’re looking for.”

Programming will be quite extensive opening weekend, as it is also Mother’s Day.

Granson urges everyone in Lethbridge to keep an eye on Nikka Yuko’s social media platforms and the website for more upcoming events.

“We’re planning on doing Date Night in the Dome the entire summer. Before that, we held it just in July and August, so we’re able to continue that wonderful program everybody seems to love. Keep an eye on when that will be announced, as well.”
