Traffic stop results in the seizure of drugs, weapons

A vehicle has been seized by police following a traffic stop where the driver is alleged to have open alcohol, drugs and weapons in the vehicle.

According to Taber Police Service officials, around 10 p.m. Monday, officers conducted a traffic stop where they reported seeing open alcohol containers in the vehicle. This led to a search of the vehicle where officers reported finding a 12-gauge shotgun under the driver’s seat that had its serial number defaced; along with the gun police also seized ammunition, cocaine, throwing knives, alcohol, drug paraphernalia and illegal cigarettes.

The driver of the vehicle also had his licence suspended and under the Alberta Suspended Driver Program Taber Police seized the vehicle for 30 days.

A 44-year-old Taber man is facing several weapons, drugs and alcohol charges, along with a charge for driving while unauthorized.
