UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm watch no longer in effect

UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm watch has been lifted.

It’s expected to be a rainy Monday in Lethbridge and surrounding areas.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect from Environment and Climate Change Canada. The agency says while strong wind gusts are the primary threat, residents should also watch for heavy rain and possible hail.

The rainfall could impact visibility and conditions on roads, with drivers advised to take caution when behind the wheel.

Additionally, damage to roofs, fencing and other property is possible.

The agency is calling for about five to 10 millimeters of rain in Lethbridge, with the thunderstorm risk expected to continue through the morning and early into the afternoon.

Full weather alerts are available at the Environment Canada website.
