Slide, bounce and splash into summer at the Breezy Bay Waterpark near Raymond on Corner Lake at the Perrett Park Campground, which is located only 30 minutes from Lethbridge.
The inflatable park officially opens June 14 and will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m.
The Grand Opening weekend is scheduled for June 27 to July 1 during Raymond’s Heritage Day celebrations.
“We wanted to create a safe and fun-filled summer destination where people of all ages can have a blast and make unforgettable memories on the water,” says Co-owner Jeff Birch. “We can’t wait for families to experience the ultimate outdoor waterpark this summer and for years to come.”
With floating platforms, slides, monkey bars and a blob launch pad – the waterpark is a giant water adventure.
Birch and Co-owner Steve Scott grew up in southern Alberta and spent a lot of time playing sports and enjoying outdoor activities.
“Raymond is the perfect place because it’s central to surrounding communities. We hope people from all over southern Alberta visit the park and enjoy themselves,” adds Birch.
“We found it was kind of lacking in the area, especially with a lot of the newer water restrictions coming in with Waterton every year. We thought, what could we bring to southern Alberta that would draw families and kids and would be a good addition to outdoor recreational activity,” Birch explains. “My partner and I enjoyed the one out at Lake Koocanusa in British Columbia and there’s also one in Sylvan Lake. We thought it would be a good market to bring one here to southern Alberta.”
Breezy Bay, Birch notes, is kind of like the Wipe Out television show, and is similar to an obstacle course too. “You go through a lot of stuff, but we went more towards cool different things like a tower and a great big slide. There’s different obstacles and a trampoline in the centre of the park. There’s a little bit for everyone.”
Sessions range from one to two hours. Visitors must book tickets online ahead of time.
“Everything is booked online. When people are travelling they know they have a spot. It’s not like you can just show up because capacity is only 150. We want people to book ahead of time,” says Birch.
Lifeguards will be on duty, and life jackets are required and provided for free. Breezy Bay will also be open for group bookings, including youth groups, schools, birthdays or corporate events.
