Fire causes $150K damage to northside home

A house fire on the city’s north side resulted in $150,000 in damage.

According to Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services, crews responded to the blaze in the 900 block of 41st Avenue North around 7:30 p.m. Firefighters from three stations responded to the fire; when they arrived, they reported finding light smoke emanating from a two-storey, single-family home.

According to a statement from LFES, “Crews entered the structure to conduct a primary search and gain control of the fire. Heavy smoke was encountered in the basement, where the seat of the fire was located.”

Firefighters contained the blaze to the basement and area of origin. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
