The city is putting out a call for artists interested in being part of the Henderson Connections – Asphalt Art Pilot.
According to the City of Lethbridge Public Art Program the public art project focuses on improving the community in the Henderson Park area; highlighting the connection between park immunities including Henderson Lake, Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, Henderson Outdoor Pool, Lethbridge Tennis Club, Henderson Lake Golf Course, Wade Galloway Skate Park, Spitz Stadium, and the Lethbridge and District Exhibition.
Expression of Interest submissions are being accepted from artists and art groups across the country who would like to create a series of temporary asphalt murals on the pathways found throughout the 24-hectare park. The five to eight murals will be done on designated pathways and gathering areas in the park area, along with adjacent areas near the Agri-Food Hub and Trade Centre.
Along with creating the murals the requirements for the expression of interest also include facilitating an activity the community can be part of, such as a volunteer paint day, which Lethbridge Public Art Program officials say will “foster participation and connection.”
Expression of Interest submissions are being accepted until July 21st at 11:59 p.m.
Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11:59 pm local time to create a series of temporary asphalt murals along park pathways. The budget for the project is reported to be up to $10,000.
