Fire severely damages home in north Lethbridge

A north Lethbridge home is reported to have sustained severe damage from a fire over the weekend.

According to Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services officials, crews from four stations responded to the fire on the 500 block of 9th Avenue North around 4 p.m. Saturday.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the single unit of a fourplex. The occupants of the home and the neighbouring units evacuated safely

Twenty-three firefighters are said to have been part of extinguishing the blaze and kept it from spreading to the rest of the building.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
