Cause of two weekend fires under investigation

Crews in Lethbridge are investigating the cause of two weekend fires.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services says at around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, November 21, members from three stations responded to a large outside fire in the 400 block of 10 Street North. Officials say the fire had spread to the outside of a nearby building.

Firefighters were able to stop it from spreading further into the structure. Officials say the damage is still being assessed, with the cause under investigation.

Meanwhile, a second fire was reported on Sunday, November 23. At about 5:15 a.m., crew members from five stations responded to the garage blaze in the 1600 block of 15 Avenue South. LFES says the fire spread from the garage to the home.

Two residents were evacuated safely, with no injuries reported. Firefighters were also able to stop the incident from spreading to neighbouring properties. Damage estimates are pending, and the cause is under investigation.
