Charges have been laid in a southern Alberta drug trafficking investigation with links to Lethbridge.
RCMP officials said an investigation that began in April 2025 into a Calgary man suspected of trafficking drugs between Calgary and Lethbridge has led to the seizure of drugs worth an estimated $450,000.
On Feb. 26, officers located a vehicle linked to the suspect at a home on Stoney Nakoda First Nation. Police said the vehicle was towed after the registered owner reported it had been taken without consent.
Police said the investigation determined the suspect was actively involved in drug trafficking in the Stoney Nakoda community. Officers later identified a storage locker in Airdrie connected to the suspect. Following a search of the locker March 9, police seized 1.4 kilograms of drugs.
On March 11, officers set up surveillance at a tow yard in Cochrane, where the vehicle had been taken. Officers arrested the man after he left his vehicle carrying a bag. Police said a search of the bag led to the seizure of an additional 2.7 kilograms of suspected drugs.
In total, investigators seized 581.2 grams of suspected fentanyl, 1,041 grams of suspected cocaine, 2,472.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 2.2 grams of suspected carfentanil and $6,798 in cash. Police said the estimated street value of the drugs is $450,000.
Officials said the arrest involved support from the RCMP emergency response team, police dog services and Calgary Police Service helicopter air watch for community safety. The man was arrested without incident.
The 42-year-old man remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Calgary.
