New venue to host Coaldale Chamber job fair

The new Shift Community Recreation Centre will host this year’s job fair organized by the Coaldale Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber officials said the new facility is designed to enhance the event by being physically connected to Coaldale Prairie Winds Secondary School. The Chamber has worked closely with school administration to involve students throughout the day, with teachers bringing classes representing more than 600 students to explore career pathways, summer work and part-time opportunities with local employers.

Coaldale Chamber of Commerce president Robert Woolf said the location offers an opportunity to bring employers together with future workers in the community.

“By partnering with Prairie Winds and hosting the event in a shared facility, we are intentionally removing barriers between students and employers. This is about building confidence, creating pathways, and strengthening Coaldale’s workforce for the future,” Woolf said.

Post-secondary institutions will also take part, with representatives from Lethbridge Polytechnic and University of Lethbridge on hand to showcase programs and training that align with local labour market needs.

“Students can see the full picture — from part-time jobs and summer employment to post-secondary programs and long-term career opportunities. It connects education, skills training, and local employment all in one place.”

Job Fair 2026 will bring together employers, job seekers, students, post-secondary institutions and non-profits for a day focused on hiring and making connections.

Attendees will have the chance to meet face-to-face with hiring managers, explore a range of industries and participate in on-site interviews.

Chamber director and Job Fair coordinator Yumara Coteron thanked the Alberta Chambers of Commerce for its support.

“We are grateful for the Alberta Chamber’s support in helping us create meaningful employment connections in our community,” Coteron said. “When business, education, and community partners collaborate, we create opportunities that have lasting and measurable impact.”

The job fair will take place April 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
