‘Live Well Showcase’ to highlight resources available for southern Alberta seniors

The Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization is gearing up for its 13th annual ‘Live Well Showcase’ next month.

The two-day event, set for June 4 and 5, will bring upwards of 70 to 80 vendors to the LSCO to showcase the services and resources they have available for seniors in the community.

Executive director of the LSCO, Kaitlynn Weaver, said the event takes place during seniors’ week and is “basically one of the biggest trade shows for seniors in western Canada”.

Weaver noted they generally see 1,500 to 2,000 seniors and their families attend the showcase each year.

“The LSCO is kind of a one-stop shop for seniors’ services, and we try to bring in as much stuff as possible for seniors to get educated, to learn about what’s in the community, but this is a great way for two days of the year to have pretty much everything that Lethbridge has to offer our city but also the surrounding communities,” she said.

Weaver added that the ‘Live Well Showcase’ is free to attend and brings in seniors from not only Lethbridge, but outside communities within Lethbridge County.

The event will also feature presentations to educate seniors on different opportunities and resources they can benefit from throughout the aging process.

VENDORS

Weaver said vendors are still being sought for the showcase. Those interested can call the LSCO or visit the organization’s website.

There is a fee for vendors to rent a space, but Weaver said that money will help support programs and services at the LSCO.

“The businesses or whoever wants to share what they do with seniors, not only get to market what they do but they also get to support a good cause,” she remarked.

Weaver added that vendors will be able to enjoy a ‘vendors’ lounge’, with coffee and treats.

“We have about a 70 per cent return rate for vendors because they have a good time, so we don’t only make it great for the seniors, but we make it really fun for the vendors, too.”

The 13th annual ‘Live Well Showcase’ is set for June 4 and 5. More details about the event are available on the LSCO website.
