Saturday marks a day to rev your engines as the Southern Alberta Bikers hold an annual charity ride in the region.
The yearly Motorcycle Awareness Ride and Teddy Bear Parade will support local children through donations to Child Life Services at Chinook Regional Hospital.
Participants are asked to bring new or clean, gently used teddy bears and stuffed animals with them, with those securely attached to their motorcycle.
Kickstands are set to go up at 10 a.m. on May 9, with Honkers Pub & Eatery in north Lethbridge serving as the event meeting point.
At the end of the motorcycle and teddy bear parade, the stuffed animals will be donated to help brighten the day of children receiving care at the Lethbridge hospital.
Cash donations will also be accepted during the event, with proceeds going directly to Child Life Services at the health care facility.
Before riders hit the road, Honkers Pub will offer a pancake breakfast, and the parade route will take riders throughout the city to not only help the cause but also raise awareness for motorcycle safety and remind motorists to watch for riders during the warmer months.
“Motorcycle awareness is something every rider is passionate about,” said Dallas Harty, president of Southern Alberta Bikers.
“This ride is about bringing the community together, promoting safe driving habits, and putting smiles on the faces of kids who may be going through difficult times.”
The group said all riders, families and community members are invited to attend.
